After he was slaughtered by Lord Narasimha, Jalasura transforms into water begins spilling out of Lord's feet. Jalasura was a staunch enthusiast of Lord Shiva. The legend goes that, Lord Narasimha subsequent to slaughtering Hiranyakashpu, continued to execute an evil spirit named Jalasura. He is believed to be the 4th birth of Lord Vishnu and is semi lion & semi human.The Deity Lord Narasimha of this temple is 'Swayambhu' (self manifested) and very powerful. People gather in this temple with the idea that the deity at Narasimha Jhira Cave is, in itself swayambhu roopam, meaning, the deity is self established & it is powerful. Due to little space over here, only 8 people can take darshan while the others actually have to wait in the water. There are two deities that are located at the end of the cave namely, a Shiva Linga, which was worshiped by the demon Jalasura & Lord Narasimha.
Everyone has to bathe with the water outside the temple. There are arrangements which were made recently to make sure that there is proper ventilation and electricity. This is why people need to literally strive its way to get the blessings of Lord.
